SMT Spectrum Driver After 13 months on the design table, SMT shocked the World with the Spectrum. The first-ever full 3-sided wrap around soleplate design on the market. This was designed for the most efficient transfer of power SMT could get. SMT wanted the ball to leave the clubface as quickly as possible, and to feel and look like nothing that has ever been done before. This head was the main reason for one of my Fall trips to the factory. Due to the manufacturing process it is almost impossible to have a soleplate that covers three distinctive sides of the head. Sole, backskirt and crown. It takes on special meaning since SMT heads are made differently than all other heads. The unique design afforded us the luxury of both deepening the center of gravity and, at the same time, raising it. This gives us the best of both worlds.
